Named for the Belgian city by that name, Antwerp is an incorporated village in Paulding County, Ohio. Prior to the construction of the canals along the Maumee River in the 1840s, the land was a wetland known as the Great Black Swamp, which was generally avoided by early settlers. Antwerp is the nearest community to the Six Mile Reservoir, which was the site for the 1887 Reservoir War.
