Ansonia is an incorporated village in Darke County, Ohio. Founded in 1845 by John Baughman, the settlement was originally incorporated as Dallas in 1867. However, when its post office was established, it was found that a post office by that name already existed in Ohio. Ansonia was chosen as its name from a clock that hung on the wall of the post office that had been manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Company in Ansonia, Connecticut. The clock is still in use.
