Fargo is the county seat of Cass County, and the largest city in North Dakota. Founded in 1871, Fargo was originally named Centralia, but was renamed Fargo for William Fargo, the director of the Northern Pacific Railway and founder of the Wells Fargo Express Company. Fargo is located north of Moorhead, Minnesota, and the intersection of I-94 and I-29, on North Dakota’s border with Minnesota.
