Devils Lake, North Dakota is in Ramsey County, serving as the county seat. The town was surveyed in 1883, although it first went by the names of Creelsburg and, later, Creel City. It was renamed City of Devils Lake when it was incorporated in 1884, for the nearby body of water, and later shortened to Devils Lake. Nearby cities include Camp Grafton to the southwest, Grand Harbor to the northwest, Sweetwater to the north, and Essex and Keith, to the east.
