Biscoe, North Carolina is in Montgomery County. The town’s growth was dependent on the lumber and railroad industries, and it was once a major repair center for railroad equipment. The Aberdeen and West End Railroad completed a branch track to Star, North Carolina from Filo, which is what the town was originally known as, in 1895. Filo was later renamed Biscoe, for Henry Biscoe, an important customer of the local lumber industry. Biscoe was incorporated in 1901.
