Ayden, North Carolina is in Pitt County. The town had its origins in 1891, when William Henry Harris persuaded the Atlantic Coat Line to build a railroad depot there. First known as Harristown, but its name was changed to Ayden when it was incorporated that same year. Ayden is east of Ormondsville and south of Winterville.
