Alexandria is a township in Hunterdon County, formed by Royal Charter in 1765, comprised of portions of Bethlehem Township, and incorporated as one of New Jersey’s initial townships in 1798. The township was settled by Europeans in the early 1700s, and named for James Alexander, who owned ten thousand acres there in 1744. The township includes the villages of Everittstown, Mt.
