The unincorporated town of Goodsprings is in Clark County, Nevada. Once the center of the most productive mining districts in the county, Goodsprings was named for Joseph Good, who raised cattle near the spring in the southeastern foothills of the Spring Mountains. Prior to 1900, the settlement was made up of tent cabins, a post office, and a mill. The town was platted by mining companies in 1904, and most of the town’s buildings were constructed between 1910 and 1911. Over the years, however, the lead, silver, copper, zinc, and gold have been mined out, leaving the town with just over two hundred people, as of the 2010 census. The Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings is one of the oldest saloons in the state, and is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of Ruby Hill Barnes, who was murdered there in 1948.
