Located on the Great Plains, Nebraska was accepted as the 37th state into the Union in 1867. Nicknamed the Cornhusker State, it is one of the leading farm states. The holiday, Arbor Day founded by J. Sterling Morton, originated in the state and Nebraska City is home to the headquarters of the National Arbor Day Foundation. The official soft drink of Nebraska is Kool-Aid which was created by Edwin Perkins in the city of Hastings in 1927.
