Named for its position near the Missouri state line near Illinois, in central-eastern Missouri, Moline Acres was established as a village in 1949, becoming a fourth-class city in 1961. The St. Louis suburb receives its mail from a post office in St. Louis, a much larger city just over thirteen miles to the south. Moline Acres is surrounded by Castle Point, Glasgow Village, Spanish Lake, and Florissant.
