The small city of Greentop is in Adair and Schuyler counties, in northern Missouri. Settled in the early 1840s, and officially laid out in 1855, Greentop is one of the oldest communities in the area. Its post office was established in 1857, and it was incorporated as a city in 1867. The majority of the town lies within Schuyler County, while a residential portion is in Adair County. Greentop is situated along US Highway 63, north of Sublette and Kirksville, west of Willmathsville, east of Shibley’s Point, and northeast of Fegley and Nineveh.
