The K-12 population of the city is served by Jackson Public Schools. Its campuses and programs include Cascades Elementary School, Dibble Elementary School, Hunt Elementary School, John R. Established as Jackson Junior College in 1928, Jackson College offers nearly fifty associate degrees, certificate programs, and transfer options. JJC also hosts a number of other programs, including Ross College Jackson, a Separate Educational Center providing the academic portion of Ross College's medical training programs. Also housed at JJC is a campus of Siena Heights University, offering bachelor's degree completion programs and distance learning for adults in Jackson, as well as Jackson Preparatory & Early College, where students can earn a tuition-free diploma and associate's degree, offering a headstart on a career option or further study at Jackson College or a four-year university.
There are also a couple of driver training programs in Jackson, such as Acceler8 Driver Education, a family-owned business that offers programs in several school campuses within the city.

SHU is a private Roman Catholic university whose main campus is in Adrian, Michigan.
