The city of Cocoa was first founded by fishermen around 1860, though it was originally called Indian River City. When postal employees declared that it was too long for a postmark, it was renamed to Cocoa. It is situated in Brevard County, Florida. Although it is clear that it was named after the food, stories as to exactly how that came to be are many.
