The city of Weed is situated in Siskiyou County in northern California, about 10 miles away from Mount Shasta, the second tallest volcano in the Cascade Range. It is named after the founder of the area’s first lumber mill, Abner Weed in 1897. By the 1940’s, Mr. Weed had the world’s largest sawmill.
