Stanford is an unincorporated community in Santa Clara County, California. Governed as a census designated place made up mostly of Stanford University, its population consists largely of on-campus housing, student villages, and faculty housing areas. A residential neighborhood surrounding the college is part of the city of Palo Alto, rather than Stanford.
