Tamaulipas is one of the thirty-one states of the nation of Mexico. Located in northeastern Mexico, Tamaulipas is bordered by the Mexican states of Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, and Nuevo Leon, as well as the U.S. state of Texas to the north. Tamaulipas is made up of forty-three municipalities, and its capital city is Ciudad Victoria. Other large cities in Tamaulipas include Reynosa, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, and Tampico.
