Officially named Municipio de la Ciudad Capital San Juan Bautista, San Juan is the capital and most highly populated city in Puerto Rico. The city was founded by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1508, and was originally named Caparra, renamed in 1521 for John the Baptist.
