The focus of this portion of our guide is Internet resources for schools at all levels in the town of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Currently, there are three high schools in Wishaw.
Clyde Valley High School is a non-denominational secondary school with an average pupil roll of 800 to 900. Sharing facilities with Orchard Primary School, its buildings occupy a green-field site on the outskirts of Wishaw, adjacent to the River Clyde Valley.
Coltness High School is in Coltness, the largest suburb of Wishaw. Opened in 1966, it has an average roll of from 700 to 800 pupils. It serves the catchment area of Coltness and Cambusnethan, as well as settlements outside of Wishaw.
St. Aidan's High School is co-educational Roman Catholic secondary school for students 11-18 years of age. Located in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, it is within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Motherwell.
Wishaw has no colleges or universities, the nearest being Motherwell College, based in Ravenscraig, and the University of the West of Scotland in Hamilton.
In recent years, the town has lost a few of its primary schools. Some schools. have been operating at a fraction of their capacity, with enrollment numbers significantly below what the schools can accommodate. Additionally, the North Lanarkshire Council, faced with budget restraints, is consolidating resources to ensure better utilization and maintenance of school facilities. These closures are part of a broader strategy to manage the council's budget more efficiently.
Publicly funded primary schools still in operation include, I believe, Calderbridge Primary School, Orchard Primary School, and Wishaw Academy Primary School; perhaps there are some others.
Additionally, the Catholic Church operates a few primary schools. St. Thomas Primary School is a Catholic institution on Waverly Drive, while St. Aidan's Primary School serves the Coltness and Cambusnethan areas of Wishaw, and St. Ignatius' Primary School is supported by St. Ignatius of Loyola Church.
These and any other schools or educational institutions or programmes in Wishaw are appropriate topics for this category, along with tutoring or homeschooling services, and any other instructional activities, such as driver training, martial arts, or vocational training.
