George Washington (February 22, 1732 - December 14, 1799) was born in Westmorland, Virginia, British America to a tobacco farmer. A vestryman in his Episcopal church, he married Martha Dandridge, and they had no children. He was chosen by the Second Continental Congress to act as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army as they fought the American Revolution, and the one thing that is not debated is the fact that he instilled fierce loyalty in his troops. He was elected the first American President and then went back to live the rest of his life as a farmer.
