Gordon Sumner, who is better known as Sting, was born in Northumberland, England on October 2, 1951. He married Frances Tomelty in 1967. and they had two children before they were divorced in 1984. He began his singing career with the rock band The Police in 1977, but prior to that, he was a school teacher. In 1980, he moved to Galway in Ireland and became a tax exile. Both of his parents died of cancer in 1987. In 1992, he married Trudie Styler, and they have two children.
