Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey on September 23, 1949. Called for the draft during the Vietnam War, Springsteen failed the physical and was not accepted into the army. He was in numerous bands between 1962 and 1972 when he assembled the E Street Band, though not under that name. In 1985, he married Julianne Phillips, who was 11 years younger than he. They were divorced in March of 1989. He married Patti Scialfa, who was in the band, in 1991, and together, they have three children.
