Born in Montreal, Quebec on March 22, 1931, William Shatner was born to parents who were children of Jewish immigrants from Europe. His religion is conservative Judaism. He is best known as Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series. He has been married four times; his third wife, Nerine, died in their swimming pool, and William found her. There was gossip which indicated foul play and aspersions were cast in his direction. But in the end, it was made public that she was an alcoholic and that drugs and alcohol were a factor in her death. William suffers from tinnitus. He married his fourth and current wife, Elizabeth Martin, in 2001.
