Formed in London in 1962, the Rolling Stones became part of the 1960s counterculture in 1964. They were the darlings of the rebellious teens of the time, and they were billed, a least informally, as the "anti Beatles," and many who were fans of one band were not fans of the other, much the same way Windows and Mac aficionados denigrate the other. In 2012, the Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary, and did so with the release of a book entitled "50." Three musicians, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Charlie Watts, are still with the band after all those years.
