Conan O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on April 18, 1963. His father was a physician and professor of medicine at Harvard, and his mother is an attorney. He graduated from Harvard magna cum laude with a thesis about the use of children as symbols by William Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor. He was a writer for various comedy programs, including Saturday Night Live, and got his own show, Late Night in 1993. In 2009, he took over the Tonight Show for 7 months after host Jay Leno retired, then changed his mind and took the show back. After a legal period of being "prohibited from being funny on television" as part of a settlement, Conan debuted in his TBS late night show, Conan, in November 2010. He is married and has two children.
