The heavy metal band known as Motley Crue was founded in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 1980 by drummer Tommy Lee and bass guitarist Nikki Six. The were later joined by Vince Neil, the lead singer, and Mick Mars, lead guitarist. They were famous for the public perception of their lifestyles; all of them have been addicted to drugs and alcohol, spent time incarcerated, and are heavily tattooed.
