James Monroe (April 28 1758 - July 4, 1831) was born in Virginia and ended up being a founding father of America and its fifth President. He dropped out of college to join the Continental Army in 1775 and fought in the American Revolution. He was married to Elizabeth Kortright in 1786 and they had three children, the youngest of which was the bride in the first wedding of a President's child to be held in the White House. He died of tuberculosis and heart failure and was the third founding father to die on July 4.
