Joseph Levitch was born on March 16, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey, and most people know him as comedian Jerry Lewis. He first performed on stage with his father, who was a vaudeville entertainer, and spent the bulk of his career as Dean Martin's partner on stage and television. He is recognized as the emcee for the annual muscular dystrophy telethon each Labor Day from its inception in 1954 until his last one in 2010. He was married to his first wife for nearly 36 years, and after his divorce, he married a Las Vegas dancer 25 years his junior in 1983. He has seven children.
