Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 13, 1939, American actor Harvey Keitel was born to Jewish immigrants from Poland and Romania. His parents owned a luncheonette. He left high school when he was 16 to join the Marines and during Operation Blue Bat, he was deployed to Lebanon. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked as a stenotype operator until he became an actor. He fathered two children before marrying his wife Lisa, and the two of them have a child.
