Tommy Lee Jones was born in San Saba, Texas on September 15, 1946 to a mother who was a police officer beauty shop owner and teacher, and a father who worked in the oil fields. His parents were married and divorced two times. He was able to go to Harvard on a scholarship and played on their varsity football team and earned a B.A. in English. After graduation, he moved to New York to break into acting. He delivered the nomination speech for his college roommate, Al Gore, at the 2000 Democratic National Convention. He has been married three times and has two children. He lives in a suburb of San Antonio.
