Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was a singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist. He was born in Gary, Indiana and began his musical career at the age of 6 when the Jackson 5 debuted, and his solo music career began in 1971. In addition to his talents, he was known for his eccentricity, including his constantly changing physical appearance, cosmetic surgery, strange behavior, and accusations of child molestation. He was married twice and has three children. A chronic insomniac, Michael died in his home in Los Angeles of acute propofol intoxication and cardiac arrest.
