Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on May 16, 1966. She began her career as a child when she made appearances with her brothers, The Jackson Five, and at the age of 11, she was cast as Penny in the television sitcom “Good Times.” She has become better known for her music since that time. She was the center of national attention when she suffered what she claimed was a “wardrobe malfunction” during the halftime entertainment at the 2004 NFL Superbowl. According to one of the creators of YouTube, the inspiration for that social media video sharing site came when he could not find a clip of that moment online.
