Tom Hanks, born in Concord, California on July 9, 1956, is an actor, writer, director, and producer who has starred in dozens of movies and television shows, including Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, and Forrest Gump. He studied theater in Hayward, California, transferring to CalState Sacramento after two years. He first became known to the public at large when he co-starred in the television series “Bosom Buddies,” where his character had to dress as a woman in order to live in an affordable all-female hotel. He has two children with his first wife, Samantha Lewes, and two with his second wife, Rita Wilson. He is an outspoken Democrat.
