Grateful Dead was a rock band which was born in Palo Alto, California in 1965. It was a mixture of bluegrass, rock, folk, blues, and jazz. They had some of the most dedicated fans in the history of music, who called themselves “Deadheads,” many of whom followed them from concert to concert, around the world. They were an institution in the San Francisco Bay Area, and were part of the transition out of the hippie movement and were associated with tie-die clothing and hallucinogenic drugs.
