Actress, dancer, and pin-up girl Betty Grable (December 18, 1916 - July 2, 1973) was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her mother got her into show business, and she made her debut as a chorus girl when she was twelve, and within short order, her mother had bleached Betty’s hair platinum blonde. She was said to have the most beautiful legs in Hollywood, and they were insured for $1,000,000. She married fellow child actor Jackie Coogan, and they were divorced two years later. She then married famed trumpet player Harry James. They were married 22 years and had two daughters before alcoholism and adultery caused them to divorce. She died in Santa Monica, California of lung cancer at the age of 56.
