Comedian and actor John Goodman was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 20, 1952. His father died of a heart attack when John was only two years old. He moved to to Manhattan to become an actor and performed in commercials and plays before getting character roles in the 1980s. He admits he is an alcoholic and has been in recovery since 2007 and lost 100 pounds a couple of years later. He is married to Anna Beth Goodman and they have an adult daughter.
