Mel Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York on January 3, 1956, the sixth child of eleven. He moved to Sydney, Australia, in 1968, when his father became convinced that Mel’s oldest brother could keep from being drafted into the Vietnam War from Australia. Mel went to high school in New South Wales. After becoming an actor and moving to America, he became a producer and a director. He was married to his first wife, Robyn, in 1980, and they have seven children. They were divorced in 2011, with Robyn getting a reported settlement of $400,000,000. In 2009, he fathered a daughter with a girlfriend.
