Janeane Garofalo was born in Newton, New Jersey on September 28, 1964 and considers herself a comic, an actress and, despite what she calls her politically conservative upbringing, a liberal political activist. She considers herself an atheist. She married writer Robert Cohen in Las Vegas in 1991 and told people it was a joke, apparently believing that it would not be legal unless it was filed at the courthouse, but when Robert went to get married to someone else, it turned out that the marriage was legal. They were divorced in 2012.
