James Gandolfini (September 18, 1961 - June 19, 2013) was born in Westwood , New Jersey. His parents were both immigrants from Italy. James was a bouncer, bartender, and club manager at various times before he was introduced to the craft by a friend who took acting classes. He showed himself to be devoted to veterans' issues, including physically wounded soldiers and post-traumatic stress disorder. He was married twice and had one child with each wife. They lived in New York City until his sudden death in Rome, Italy.
