Michael Andrew Fox, who would later take on the name Michael J. Fox, was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on June 9, 1961. His film career took off when he was 15. He married his costar from his first series, "Family Ties" at an inn in Arlington, Vermont. They have four children. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 but kept it private until 1998, when he announced his retirement from his show, "Spin City." He reportedly splits his time between New York City and his farm in Brattleboro, Vermont.
