Julius Evola was an Italian philosopher and author of several books on esoteric, political, and religious topics. Although he considered himself to be anti-fascist, his objections were to the nationalistic aspects of fascism, while he helped to form fascist racial thought. When Italy surrendered to Allied forces, Evola moved to Germany, where he was employed as a researcher for the SS Ahnenerbe. Arrested in 1951, he was acquitted of war crimes.
