Robert Downey, Jr. was born April 4, 1965 in Manhattan. The son of Robert Downey, Sr., who was a drug addict, actor and director of underground films, Robert, Jr. grew up in Greenwich Village. Robert Junior moved to California in order to further his career in movies, and during that time, he himself became an active alcoholic and drug addict and was arrested numerous times for drug-related charges. He spent time in a drug rehab in a prison setting and says he has been clean and sober since July of 2003. He has been married twice and has three children.
