Judi Dench, whose full name is Dame Judith Olivia Dench, is a British stage, television and movie actress who was born December 9, 1934 in York, England. Her father was a doctor, and she attended a Quaker secondary school, where she took on that faith. She debuted in 1957. She has played all manner of Shakespeare’s plays as well as movies including “Mrs. Brown”, “Shakespeare in Love”, “Chocolat”, and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”. In 1971, she married actor Michael Williams, and they had a daughter. Michael died of lung cancer in 2001.
