Patrick Dempsey, who was born on January 13, 1966 in Lewiston, Maine and was diagnosed with dyslexia as a youngster. He is a race car driver and actor who is best known as Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy.” In 1987, he married the mother of his best friend, who was 26 years his senior. They divorced in 1994. His mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997 and has had five relapses since then, prompting him to institute an annual event, the Dempsey Challenge in Maine. In 1999, he married again, and he and his current wife have three children.
