Paula Deen, born January 29, 1947, is an American cooking show hostess, restaurateur, and author who has her own Emmy-winning television show. Born in Albany, Georgia, she suffered from panic attacks and agoraphobia as a young woman. She specializes in southern cuisine, and since her announcement that she is diabetic, she includes healthy southern food recipes. She lives in Savannah, Georgia and is a paid spokesperson for a Danish pharmaceutical company.
