George Clooney, actor, director, and screenwriter, born May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, was raised a strict Roman Catholic. He came to the attention of the world when he played Dr. Doug Ross on the medical series “ER.” He has been in scores of movies, including “Oceans Eleven,” “Good Night, and Good Luck,” and “The Ides of March.” He is an activist, particularly concerning the Darfur massacres. He has caused controversy in his day, probably the largest of which was a cruel joke about Charlton Heston’s and his battle with Alzheimer’s. He was married to actress Talia Balsam in 1989, and after their 1993 divorce, he said he would not ever marry again. Clooney married human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin on September 27, 2014.
