Dana Carvey, who gained fame as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, was born June 2, 1955 in Missoula, Montana to parents who were both school teachers. He was raised in San Carlos, California and the San Francisco Bay Area and went to college in San Mateo. He was married for a year to his first wife and has been married to Paula Zwagerman since 1982. They have two sons. He had heat bypass surgery in 1997, and the surgeon operated on the wrong artery. He won $8 million in a malpractice suit and donated the money to charity. He later underwent another surgery to fix the problems.
