Actor Richard Burton (November 10, 1925 - August 5, 1984), a seven-time nominee for Academy Awards, was born in Wales and given the name Richard Walter Jenkins. His mother died in childbirth after her thirteenth child when Richard was just shy of two years old. In his day, the highest paid actor in Hollywood. “The Robe,” “Becket,” “Anne of the Thousand Days,” and “The Taming of the Shrew” are just a smattering of his movies. He was married five times, twice in a row to actress Elizabeth Taylor, and fathered four children. Burton died at his home in Switzerland of a brain hemorrhage at the age of 58.
