Ray Bradbury (August 22, 1920 - June 5, 2012),the father of modern science fiction, was born in Waukegan, Illinois. His family moved back and forth between Illinois and Tucson, Arizona as his father looked for work. Ray began writing his own stories when he was eleven, during the Great Depression. When he was 14, they settled in Angeles, and Ray discovered Hollywood, where he met George Burns, who gave him his first job, writing for the Burns & Allen Show when he was 14. He was married to his wife Marguerite from 1947 until she died, and they had four daughters.
