George Alan O’Dowd, known as Boy George, was born in Bexley, Kent, England on June 14, 1961. He is a singer and songwriter who led the group Culture Club. He also led a group called Jesus Loves You and been a solo artist at various times in his life. During the 1980s, he struggled with his addiction to heroin and eventually other drugs, following which he had numerous legal problems. In 2009, he was going to be on Celebrity Big Brother, but his probation would not allow it. In 1985, he bought an 18th century icon from an art dealer in London which, unbeknownst to George, had been looted from a church in the village of New Chorio during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. In early 2011, he agreed to return the icon to the Greek Orthodox Church.
