John Belushi (January 24, 1949 - March 5, 1982) was born in Chicago, son of Albanians; his father was an immigrant and his mother, the daughter of immigrants. He broke via the Second City comedy troupe in Chicago. He and his girlfriend Jacklin, moved together to New York in 1973, where John was a regular on the syndicated comedy show National Lampoon Radio Hour and shortly thereafter, was among the first group of comedians on Saturday Night Live. He and Jacklin were married on New Years Eve 1976. Although he came to fame as a comedian, was also an actor and musician. He was a co-star and co-creator of “The Blues Brothers.” His younger brother, Jim Belushi, is now a successful actor. John died of a drug overdose at the age of 33.
